Library Key Location and Use
The Library Key is on the ground in a small walled-off area of the University, along the route left of the elevator near the Main Hall Lantern. It unlocks library doors in the surrounding area.
Reach the Key From the Main Hall Lantern
- Follow the route through the University from the Main Hall Lantern until you reach the elevator.
- Take the hallway to the left of the elevator to follow the branch toward the key.
- Turn right to enter the section with walls you can open and close.
- Keep to the left as you work through this section to reach the small area blocked off by a wall.
- Pick up the Library Key from the ground inside the small area to unlock access to nearby library doors.
Use the Key in the Library Area
Use the Library Key on library doors in the same part of the University. Keep the elevator and the section with openable walls in mind as landmarks while checking the surrounding paths. Work through the nearby doors before moving farther into the University so you can keep track of the routes you have opened.
Continue Through the Library to Get Shield
As you progress through the library, you jump across a chandelier and enter a large open room. Shield Transmutation is obtained at the top of the stairs in that room. It lets you cross poison areas and block enemy damage, making it useful for exploring the University's poison hallways.
With Shield available, return to the chandelier area and take the opposite route through the poison hallway, then ride the next elevator down into the lower library. Turn right toward the large room with the statue and collect the item in front of it to remove the vines. The chest behind the statue contains a Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade.
Open the Later Shortcut Back to Main Hall
- Return to the earlier elevator area after obtaining Shield to reach the poison hallway leading to another elevator.
- Follow the poison hallway to reach that elevator.
- Ride the elevator down to open a shortcut back to the Main Hall Lantern.
- Ride the elevator back up to reach a new area with a balcony chest containing Quintessential Transmutation Material.
If You Are Trying to Open the Lift Gate
The gate to the lift uses the Lift Shaft Key. Find it on the ground beside a cage at the back of the square-cage room in the University's underground area. Return to the prior room and use that key on the gate to continue.
