Find the key on the kitchen table
The Armoury Key in Valor Mortis is on a kitchen table beneath the upper-floor rafters during the jail escape. It opens the door on the lower floor where you recover your equipment.
Start inside the jail
Look for this key during the jail escape in the Shackled chapter. The nearest Lantern is Prison, which does not support fast travel. Your route leads upstairs to the large hall with patrolling soldiers and rafters.
If the unarmed escape is giving you trouble, the early steps of The Choir can wait until you have your weapons back. Prioritize the kitchen key and the lower-floor equipment door. Once you have recovered your gear, return to the nearby quest rooms before leaving the jail.
Cross the rafters and unlock the equipment door
- Go upstairs to the large room with patrolling soldiers, where you can access the rafters.
- Follow the rafters toward the center of the room to position yourself above the kitchen.
- Drop from the central rafters into the kitchen area below.
- Pick up the Armoury Key from the kitchen table.
- Return to the lower floor to reach the locked door leading to your equipment.
- Unlock that door with the Armoury Key to recover your equipment.
Check the nearby rooms for The Choir
Beside the Armoury Key pickup is a small room with Prison Warden’s Journal – Part Two on the table. Collect it if you are following The Choir. The quest begins with Prison Warden’s Journal – Part One, found on the desk in the room with the horn, on the left along the escape route.
The Key to the Chapel is on the opposite side of the upper floor, on a table in a side room containing a memory. That separate key opens the chapel door. Use the Armoury Key for recovering your equipment and the Key to the Chapel when continuing The Choir.
Inside the chapel, the Letter to Headquarters – A List of Deceased Prisoners is on the counter behind the bodies. After escaping the sewer and returning to the city, place that letter on the board directly beside the Lantern to complete The Choir. The quest rewards a Remnant’s Return.
Finish your jail detours before leaving
The jail is a temporary area, and you cannot return after leaving it. Finish any journal and chapel detours while you are still inside rather than planning a later fast-travel visit. If you die during the early escape, you respawn at the cell, so retrace the upstairs route toward the rafters and kitchen.
If you need the Fortress Armoury Key
The Fortress Armoury Key is a separate item found on a platform at the top of a ladder. Its route starts from the Fortress’s Chapel Lantern and passes through the underground tunnels. The room it unlocks contains a chest with a Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade.
- Follow the underground route from the Chapel Lantern until you reach the sewer room after a pole jump.
- Enter the door on the left side of the sewer room to reach the stairs.
- Descend the stairs to reach the area with the large gates.
- Follow the tunnels to the left of the large-gate room to reach the room with the lever door.
- Defeat the enemies in the lever-door room before approaching its ladder.
- Climb the ladder to reach the platform holding the key.
- Pick up the Fortress Armoury Key from the top platform.
- Jump across the hanging platforms to return to the previous area.
- Unlock the door on the left with the Fortress Armoury Key to reach the chest containing the Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade.
